    PURPOSE:   The Disability Case Manager provides efficient disability claims management to Reed Group clients, serving as the key communication link between all parties involved.  The Disability Case Manager recognizes the importance of work, it’s financial, social, and psychosocial implications, and views return to productive endeavor as a primary goal.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Demonstrate adherence to Reed Group, Ltd. values and performance guidelines.
    2. Manage disability case load for STD and LTD clients.
    3. Act as the claimant’s advocate, advancing his/her best interest within the limits of the client’s policy and governing laws.
    4. Analyze absence duration comparing data to analyze absence duration comparing date to MD Guidelines and other tools.
    5. Serve as liaison to all parties involved in disability case to ensure clear, consistent communications.
    6. Maintain case records, take comprehensive event notes, objective documentation and provide reports for open and closed cases.
    7. Establish good relations with health care physicians, vocational rehab, SSDI and others to inform them of Reed Group’s philosophy and goals for client.
    8. Identify necessary job modifications and return employees to modified duty as soon as medically appropriate.
    9. Implement cost containment strategies to ensure cost effective, quality claim management practice.
    10. Work directly with Clinical Case Management Supervisor as resource on problematic claims, referring cases that require clinical consultation or special attention in accordance with URAC Standards.

     

    OTHER DUTIES:

    1. Pursue professional development, including continuing education in specialty field demonstrated on an annual basis.
    2. Attend department meetings and company meetings.
    3. Other duties as required.

     

     

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 2-3 years of customer service with STD/FMLA knowledge or experience.
    • Associate Degree or Professional Certification in Benefits Administration, Rehabilitation Vocation, Clinical Case Management, or similar.
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of disability claims administration through experience within the insurance or occupational health industry.
    • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills demonstrating courtesy, tact and professionalism.
    • Working knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9-CM coding.
    • Intermediate level computer skills using Outlook, telephonic processing software and the internet.
