    Job Summary: The Data Scientist is responsible for providing business intelligence and analytic support in the areas of healthcare utilization, medical costs, disability management, and evidence-based treatment metrics. This role is focused on supporting ReedGroup’s MDGuidelines product, the industry’s leading solution for total health management and workforce productivity.

    The Data Scientist works closely with the product and development teams by serving as a subject matter expert regarding the company’s healthcare and disability data sets. The Data Scientist works with a cross-functional team that includes epidemiologists, physicians, sales, account management and product management. The Data Scientist will be expected to perform a diverse group of tasks which will include comparing client data to industry-standard benchmarks, developing statistics for clinical decision support tools, and working with clients on custom analytical projects.



    • Working with epidemiologist and business intelligence team to design and develop client-facing benchmark reports
    • Gathering, extracting, manipulating, analyzing and modeling data using analytical and statistical tools
    • Ensuring data accuracy and creating ad hoc reports
    • Preparing and disseminating data files from/to clients based on specifications
    • Responsible for upkeep and production preparation of third-party data sources
    • Interacting with sales and client teams to articulate data insights and explain data analysis methodologies
    • Developing and maintaining level of expertise needed to support the MDGuidelines product
    • Assisting in responding to client questions about products, provides analytic support in investigating issues, as needed
    • Providing custom data analytics and representation visualizations for client-paid engagements


    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics, epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, or computer science or equivalent experience preferred
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a data scientist, data analyst or a similar role
    • At least 1 year of healthcare-related industry experience (e.g., pharmaceutical, public health, hospital, healthcare products and services)



    • Ability to think analytically, define problems and frame solutions
    • Knowledge of healthcare industry, medical claims processing and medical coding
    • Ability to organize and manage tasks, and work within a project structure
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Familiarity with R, SQL (reading, writing, querying, reporting) and/or similar statistical analytics software tools
    • Proficiency in technical writing and documentation
    • Proficiency with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
    • Knowledge of absence management and disability (short-term, long-term, workers’ compensation) a plus
    • Familiarity with Tableau a plus
