    Position Summary: 

    The Senior Attorney will support ReedGroup’s absence management and workplace accommodation products and services.

    Responsibilities

    Principal Responsibilities and Core Competencies:

    • Act as lead compliance attorney supporting the business on all legal matters relating to ReedGroup’s administration of FMLA, state and municipal leave laws and short and long-term disability plans on behalf of ReedGroup’s clients.
    • Oversee state disability laws and process requisite filings.
    • Participate in new client presentations and generally represent ReedGroup’s Product Compliance expertise to the external market through participation in industry conferences and webinars and writing whitepapers and articles.
    • Monitor and analyze new laws, agency guidance and caselaw affecting ReedGroup’s products and services.
    • Assist with legal training needs, including but not limited to: FMLA, ADA, state leave laws, and general employment law matters.
    • Draft blog posts on an ongoing basis on trends or changes in the law
    • Other duties as determined by the needs of the business.
    • Position requires up to 10% travel

    Must be computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Westlaw, legislative software and on-line legislative services).  Ability to keep up with new technology

    Qualifications

    • Law degree from accredited law school and licensed to practice in at least one state
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in handling matters involving ADA, FMLA and LOA laws at the state and federal level.
    • Strong experience and familiarity with the administration of short and long term disability plans.
    • Experience with Leave of Absence Management systems preferred but not required.
